Facebook Spoils Google Monopoly Game, AGAIN!
By DONNA BOGATIN • May 15th, 2008 • Category: BIG PICTUREMarc Andreessen may have a love hate relationship with Ning-killer competitor Google Friend Connect, but Mark Zuckerberg is unequivocal on where he stands with Facebook, AGAINST GOOGLE!
While unveiling F8 platform to the world one year ago, Zuckerberg put Google on notice:
We’re the sixth most trafficked site in the U.S…we recently passed eBay in traffic and we’re working on passing Google too.
Zuckerberg even has the chutzpah to go head to head with Google rocket scientists on Search!
Facebook tech lead Aditya Agarwal: “Do we really need to write our own search engine…Facebook is already the most used people search engine on the Web.”
The Googleplex is perplexed by Zuckerberg’s insistence on keeping all the world’s social graph information, FAR FROM GOOGLE!
Googley Marissa Mayer is adamant:
Google ought to be able to “easily crawl and index Facebook so that people will more seamlessly search for content in social networking platforms.”
Sergey Brin concurs: He eagerly eyes the “lots and lots of content” that social networks are generating to create “lots and lots of Web pages” because Google always wants “more for people to search,” via Google and sprinkled with Google AdWords.
Mark Zuckerberg is SO uncooperative, with Google Friend Connect:
WE’VE HAD TO SUSPEND GOOGLE’S ACCESS TO FACEBOOK USER INFORMATION
Facebook nevertheless assures it WANTS to be friends with Google, if only the number one Web company which seeks to control every piece of the world’s data would play by the rules of Zuckerberg’s “production,” the one that seeks to control “connecting everyone in the world.”
We’ve reached out to Google several times about this issue…
IRONIC, Zuckerberg can’t even manage to “connect” with Eric Schmidt!
