Yahoo’s Jerry Yang ought to be running at the speed of light AWAY from Internet monopoly seeking Google and into the purported Monopoly embrace of Microsoft.

After all, Yang’s Stanford “peers,” Google “rocket scientist” billionaires Sergey Brin and Larry Page, have pulled the Yahoo! Web rug out from under the original “guide” to the Internet: Once, twice now three times a Yahoo LOSER, thanks to a cocky, fast-following, but shrewdly exploiting, Google.

“Jerry and David’s Guide to the World Wide Web,” the precursor to Yahoo!, was a mid ‘90s student endeavor to develop a single place for finding useful Web sites via categorization of Web page links.

Sergey and Larry’s “BackRub” search engine, the precursor to Google, was a mid ‘90s student endeavor to find, categorize and display relevant Web pages via analysis of hyperlinks.

In 2004, Jerry Yang helped propel Google into the SEM stratosphere–while landing a blow to his own Yahoo– by negotiating away the Yahoo patent lawsuit against Google re: U.S. Patent No. 6,269,261 and several related patents, held by Yahoo‘s wholly-owned subsidiary, Overture. Google thus became the proud, legal exploiter of Yahoo financed SEM IP, thanks to Yahoo.

NOW, Yahoo appears ready, willing and able to fatally stab itself in its own SEM back while enabling Google to further consolidate its bad-for-the-Internet ecosystem, black-box GOOG grip on the Web economy.

Jerry Yang is beyond playing around with his own shareholders‘ interests, the Yahoo CEO is seemingly, but incredulously, poised to play the role of Google Internet monopoly pawn in auctioning off the Yahoo search real estate to his original and still fiercest competitors: The Googleplex.
