StartupAlpha.com Salutes NYCwireless Silicon Alley Hotspots
By DONNA BOGATIN • Mar 22nd, 2008 • Category: BIG PICTUREThe “old, gray” New York Times may headline “hopes for wireless cities are fading,“ but New York’s own vibrant NYCwireless advocacy organization is keeping the dream alive, big time.
STARTUPALPHA.COM, my new Silicon Alley-based incubator dedicated to helping emerging technology ventures flourish in New York and beyond, welcomes NYCwireless as honorary guests at my free launch party for New York tech startups May 13, 2008, in the heart of Manhattan.
Dana Spiegel, President & Executive Director, NYC wireless, will join me and fellow New Yorkers in celebrating Silicon Alley tech entrepreneurship, flush from his announcement of NYCwireless’ latest successful NYC hotspot implementation: Free high-speed Internet in Jackson Square park created in partnership with Hines, the developers of the One Jackson Square building that is next to the park. Park-goers aren’t the only people who will benefit from the new hotspot; Nearby residents, pedestrians and businesses also will be able to tap into its high-speed signal. NYCwireless’ newest hotspot victory builds upon the non-profit’s track record in helping turn Bryant Park, Madison Square Park, City Hall Park, Wagner Park in Battery Park City, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Vietnam Veterans Plaza and many others into free public hotspots.
STARTUPALPHA.COM salutes the tireless work of NYCwireless volunteers and joins in their efforts to build a more vibrant and productive Silicon Alley environment. For starters, all technology innovators are invited to post their elevator pitches for free at my STARTUPALPHA.COM Pitch Community network for where tech startups–and potential tech entrepreneurs–meet in a live support zone for seeding and nurturing current and future entrepreneurial ideas and ventures. The Startup Alpha Pitch Community for technology entrepreneurs invites all tech innovators to make their pitches, for free, online, and collaborate with peers to fuel startup creativity, gain public attention, share ideas, build a team, partner up, seek financing and grow, through mutual support.
Integral to the STARTUPALPHA.COM ecosystem is Silicon Alley Alpha Faction which broadens the tech entrepreneurship conversation by inviting all players in the startup sphere to network together offline, in the heart of the business capital of the world: Manhattan! To jumpstart the NYC tech entrepreneurship collaborative conversation, STARTUPALPHA.COM celebrates its launch with a FREE Silicon Alley Alpha Faction party for startups on May 13, 2008: “Win The Startup Lottery”!
My Entrepreneurs In Residence program is the startup incubation component of the STARTUPALPHA.COM ecosystem, where I bring a 20+ year track record of investment banking, entrepreneurship, academic and business analytics to STARTUPALPHA.COM, at the service of technology entrepreneurs and all players in the startup economy.
